Holy Trinity Publications is pleased to announce that a contract has been signed with best-selling Russian-language author Fr Alexander Torik for the publication of the English translation of his book introducing the fundamentals of Church life to new converts and catechumens.
Originally titled Воцерковление для начинающих (Churching for Beginners), this book offers a clear and practical introduction to parish life. Written in an approachable question-and-answer format, this essential catechetical resource has been translated into many other languages, including Serbian, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.
This month, Holy Trinity Publications signed another book contract with His Grace, Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe. On the heels of his recent title, The Pursuit of Godliness, HTP is honored to begin work with His Grace for another publication. The working title for this book is Lord of Creation, and it presents the patristic vision of the creation of the world and its redemption.
As we all spend the week finishing off our dairy products and preparing for the upcoming fast, we wanted to reach out to our readers with a number of updates about goings-on here in our publications office.
New Staff
We are pleased to announce that the Rev. Priest Ignatius Green has joined our team as a full-time editor. With over a decade of experience in Orthodox publishing, Fr Ignatius previously served as editor-in-chief of St Vladimir’s Seminary Press, which included work on the the long-running Popular Patristics series. In addition to his editorial work, Fr Ignatius is rector of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Columbia, South Carolina. You can read a short biography of Fr Ignatius on our Meet the Staff page. With a new editor on board, we hope to significantly increase our output of new titles in the coming years.

Replace social media with prayer and spiritual reading
For better or worse, smart phones and tablets have become a part of daily life for nearly everyone, worldwide. Priests everywhere report numerous pastoral issues related to excessive use of social media and other online services.
But despite the ills of mass media, an opportunity has arisen — what if you could replace time wasted scrolling through advertisements, AI-generated images or mindless memes with a kathisma from the Psalter, or a short prayer, or a word of spiritual counsel?
In furthering our missionary goal to spread the light of Orthodoxy as widely as possible, we have developed our own eReader app that can fit the entire HTP digital catalog into your pocket. Have you ever wanted to pray the 3rd or 6th hour while traveling, but couldn’t fit The Unabbreviated Horologion in your bag? Or do you often read multiple books at once, not knowing which to bring with you? With this app, you can always dig up spiritual treasures from the Pursuit of Godliness, Living Without Hypocrisy, My Life in Christ, or any other book we offer.
All eBooks purchased are tied to your email address, and can be read on the HTP app on as many devices as you want. After purchasing an eBook, you will receive an email confirmation with instructions for downloading the app and entering your HTP account info. When you open the app, your book(s) will automatically be accessible under “My Books”.
Great Lent is a time for spiritual reflection. While following the customary abstinence from meat and dairy prescribed by the Church, many in the Church also strive to keep to a minimum their engagement with social media and all forms of entertainment.
Nevertheless it is not always possible to disengage from our work responsibilities, which for us have included traveling to Church events and business conferences. We have also held back on marketing emails. But as the great and holy feast of the Lord’s Resurrection approaches, we wanted to inform our friends and customers of some recent events and developments.
The 2025 London Book Fair
After the first Sunday of Great Lent, we headed straight to the London Book Fair, an international gathering of publishers and the businesses that supply services to them ranging from printing to shipping.
That same week, we held a book launch at the Russian Cathedral in Chiswick, London, for The Pursuit of Godliness: Five Centuries on Spiritual Ascent. Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe graciously hosted the event in the parish hall of his diocesan cathedral, and had a conversation with our director of publications, Nicholas Chapman, about his new book.
At the beginning of the third week of the Fast, we travelled to St Mary of Egypt Church in Roswell, Georgia for the ROCOR Eastern American Diocese Southern Lenten Clergy Conference. Here, we again met Bishop Irenei, as he presented a lecture on the topic of spiritual fatherhood. Our sales and marketing executive, Timothy Zelinski, also gave a short talk on the new titles recently published by Holy Trinity Publications.
The EAD Southern Lenten Conference
During the Southern Clergy Conference, we officially launched our new website. Our old online store has been integrated with our main website, and you can now browse and buy all our titles at holytrinitypublications.com
By the fourth week of the Fast , we had returned home to Jordanville for the ROCOR Eastern American Diocese Clergy Conference. Our director of Sales and Marketing, Fr Peter Markevich offered a presentation about our recent activities. You can read the fuller reports about the EAD clergy conferences here and here.
As we are soon to greet the bright feast of Pascha, be sure to browse our new website, where you can also see news updates about all things related to Holy Trinity Publications.
On Tuesday, March 11th, Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, graciously hosted Holy Trinity Publications and a number of guests in the parish hall of his diocesan cathedral for a launch event celebrating the publication of his new book, The Pursuit of Godliness: Five Centuries on Spiritual Ascent.
Nicholas Chapman, our director of publications, had a conversation with Bishop Irenei about his new book. Among the many topics discussed, Vladyka spoke about his motivations for writing the book, offered background on the patristic genre of “centuries” that he utilized in this work, and about the spiritual struggles that Orthodox Christians face today, and how to combat them.
After concluding their conversation, guests were able to ask their questions to Bishop Irenei about the talk. Finally, the Parish Sisterhood graciously prepared some light lenten fare for all of the guests.
Holy Trinity Publications graciously extends thanks to Bishop Irenei for his hospitality and his edifying talk, as well as to the parish sisterhood who labored so hard to make it a memorable evening.
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, Holy Trinity Publications held a book launch for Tsarist Russia in Greater Syria at the Diocesan Chancery of Bishop John of Worcester and New England (Antiochian Archdiocese). The event featured greetings from Metropolitan Saba (in absentia) and Bishop John, followed by a conversation with the author, Dr Najib E. Saliba. Dr Saliba is Professor Emeritus of History and Political Science at Worcester State University and the youngest brother of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Philip (+2014). His work illuminates the history and legacy of the Russian Empire’s activities in the Near East in the century before World War I, drawing lessons of continued relevance today. In the author’s remarks, he stressed the vital role that Russia played in the renaissance of Arab culture and identity and in upholding the native Orthodox Christian population in the face of Roman Catholic and Protestant proselytism.
In addition to the host, Bishop John, some thirty guests were in attendance, including: Archpriest Thomas Zain, Vicar General of the Antiochian Archdiocese, who also wrote the foreword to the book; Archpriest Michael Crowley, rector of St. Xenia Orthodox Church in Methuen, MA; and members of the Saliba family. The formal event was followed by a meal provided by a member of the community of St George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, MA.
Copies of Tsarist Russia in Greater Syria may be ordered worldwide from any good bookshop or online bookseller, or directly from the publisher at HolyTrinityPublications.com.
A full video of the evening will be released in the coming weeks. We pray that Tsarist Russia in Greater Syria will fill a critical gap in knowledge regarding the history of Russian influence in the region that continues to be relevant to today’s geopolitical situation.
In less than two weeks, Holy Trinity Publications will return to Germany for the Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) that is held annually every October. Though the modern iteration of the book fair has been running for seventy-five years, its history can be traced to the 12th century, making it the oldest publishing trade gathering in the world.
Exhibiting at FBF allows us to meet face-to-face with existing and potential partners in the industry, building relationships that will help us expand our missionary publishing efforts all over the world. This includes meetings with distributors, international publishers with potential interest in translation rights, production and editorial companies, and other service providers within various facets of the trade.
HTP is especially looking forward to meeting with several new business partners: Glassboxx, who are building a new website and reading app set to launch later this year: and Gardners Books, HTP’s new worldwide distributor (excluding North America and Australia).
Holy Trinity Publications will be exhibiting in Hall 6.1, E115.
